Heidelberg 2015 & 2018

Heidelberg - Beuatiful Neckar Paradise

In my opinion, Heidelberg is the "Heart of Germany"! The city of Heidelberg is famous for its picturesque old town with the Castle Ruin and the oldest German University, which was founded in 1386. The first time, I went to Heidelberg in 2015 to visit my Taiwanese friend there, who studied there at this time. This year, I came back to Heidelberg to visit my girlfriend in the beautiful city of Heidelberg.

The city of Heidelberg is famous for the Baroque old town with the market place and the city hall. Since the city wasn't destroyed during World War II, there are still a lot of original buildings, which are under monument conservation. The old town is one of the most impressive old towns, I saw in Germany. Moreover, the Castle Ruin is one of the famoust ruins in Germany. The castle itself was built in a Gothic to Renaissance architecture style and was originally opened in 1214.

After enjoying the Old Town, we went to the Northern side of the Neckar to see the  Philosophers' Walk with its scenic views. The Philosophers' Walk is a two kilometer long path, leading up to the Heiligenberg. We really enjoyed the sunshine and made a little picnic there too by enjoying the beautiful atmosphere. It's also possible to see the Karl Theodor Bridge, commonly known as Old Bridge. It connects the old city with the Eastern parts of the Neuenheim district and was constructed in 1788 by Elector Charles Theodore.
